1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. They are used to remember preferences, keep sessions open, deduplicate metrics and make the site work efficiently. Winkels uses first-party cookies and, in the payment flow, necessary third-party cookies such as MercadoPago's.
2. Cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| wk_visitor | Anonymously identifies the visitor to deduplicate events (catalogue visits) and attribute an order to its source channel. It stores no identifiable personal data. | 1 year | First-party functional |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers preferred language (Spanish, Portuguese or English) so you don't need to select it every time. | 1 year | Strictly necessary |
| auth_token | Keeps your owner, collaborator or buyer session open. Sent only to the server (HttpOnly). | 30 minutes (session) | Strictly necessary |
| refresh_token | Allows renewing the session without re-entering credentials. HttpOnly. | 30 days | Strictly necessary |
| MercadoPago cookies | Set during subscription and checkout flows. Governed by MercadoPago's privacy policy. | Variable (per MercadoPago) | Necessary third-party |
3. Third-party cookies
When you start a subscription payment flow or an order in a store that uses MercadoPago, cookies from the MercadoPago domain are set to complete the transaction. Winkels does not control or access the content of those cookies. Their processing is governed by MercadoPago's policy.
4. How to control cookies
You may delete or block cookies from your browser settings. Note that if you block strictly necessary cookies (session, language), parts of the site may stop working correctly (e.g., you will not be able to stay logged in).
The wk_visitor cookie is anonymous and blocking it does not prevent site use; it only causes each visit to be counted as a distinct visitor.
5. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when cookie usage changes. The last-updated date appears at the top.
